Dr. Wax is the Director and Senior Pediatrician at the Forest Lakes Pediatric Center. The Center was founded in 1980 by two former chief residents from major academic pediatric hospitals, Dr. Howard Weiner, from New York/Bellvue Medical Center and Dr. Charles Wax from Los Angeles County- University of Southern California Medical Center. Dr. Wax has been in practice continuously from the Center's founding.

Dr. Wax was born and raised in San Francisco, California. He graduated from the University of California/Berkeley with a double major in psychology and zoology, and from Tufts University Medical School in Boston. Los Angeles County- University of Southern California Pediatrics Pavilion is considered one of the most difficult pediatric training programs in the country. Dr. Wax completed his pediatric training there and became the Resident Supervisor of the combined Adult and Pediatric Acute Communicable Disease Service where he oversaw the training of over 200 Residents and directed the venereal disease, parasite/worm, and follow up snakebite and spider envenomation clinic as well as the 50-inpatient unit.

During his two years tenure in the United States Public Health Service, he was an Epidemic Intelligence Service officer stationed in Maryland. He discovered, investigated, and brought to a close the last polio epidemic in the United States. He has taught at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and has presented at the Johns Hopkins Combined Public Health and International Medicine Grand Rounds.

Dr. Wax resides in Jarrettsville. His son is a lawyer in New York City, and his daughter works in the Center where his wife Judy is the office manager and nurse. He has two grandchildren, Delila and Sasha. He is on the Medical Staff at Upper Chesapeake, St. Josephs, Franklin Square, and Greater Baltimore Medical Centers where he has worked in the newborn intensive care units and taught house officers and hospitalists. He also works periodically at Nighttime Pediatrics, an after-hours urgent care center for children in Anne Arundel County.
